Information about us

The Global Grant Community (“GGC”) is a collaborative initiative involving grantor and grantee organizations from all over the world.

At the core of the Global Grant Community is a new international standard called Good Financial Grant Practice (the “GFGP standard”).

The development of the GFGP standard was funded by Wellcome and the UKRI and was hosted at the African Academy of Sciences (“AAS”) in Nairobi, Kenya.

The development of the GGC portal (“the site”) was funded by the UK’s National Institute for Health Research the UKRI , and the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP). The portal is supported by the AAS and hosted on Amazon Web Services in Ireland.

Any subsequent reference to the AAS in these terms shall include the GGC  suppliers or collaborators who from time to time will be involved in the site.

Submissions

      1. My Organizations Documents.
Submission of documents in support of your on line assessment. These documents are stored in the portal in a space which is private to your organization called “ My Organizations Documents”. No one has access to these documents unless you specifically give them permission. Your permission to view these documents would typically be granted to the grantor who has invited you to undertake an assessment, another grantor who has requested to view your assessment, or an auditor who has requested to view your assessment as part of their preparation for the site visit to your organization to undertake a compliance certification audit.

      2. Shared Documents.
Submission of documents which you wish to make available to other members of the Global Grant Community are stored in the “Shared Documents” folder in the portal. These documents are available to any user in the portal. Typically, these documents will be templates for Policies, Processes and Procedures which other users may find useful for customizing for their own organizations.

Collaborative work spaces & Shared Documents

Some of the site’s services may provide you with settings to narrow the scope of use granted to the AAS. Collaborative work spaces and Shared Documents folder provide an area on the site for users to selectively share submissions and develop collaborative projects.

Although the AAS will use reasonable endeavours to protect any submission you may submit to a collaborative work space or the Shared Documents folder, it does not guarantee the security of any submission used in a collaborative work space or the Shared Documents folder : any submission to a collaborative work space or the Shared Document folder is at your own risk.

You should not use the collaborative work spaces or Shared Document folder to upload any data or other findings that identify, or could be used to identify, a living individual.

By submitting a  to a collaborative work space or the Shared Documents folder, you grant to the AAS a revocable, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to use, host, store, reproduce, modify, create derivative works, communicate, distribute and otherwise use such submissions for the purposes of providing the collaborative work space and Shared Documents folder and enabling their functionality.

You may, at any time and for any reason, delete submissions from the collaborative work space or Shared Documents folder and withdraw the AAS’s right to use such submissions, but you accept that such submissions may have been downloaded and used by other users in the collaborative workspace or Shared Documents folder and the AAS has no control over the use of any submissions which may have been downloaded or copied from the collaborative work space or Shared Documents folder by other users.

The AAS acknowledges the importance of preserving your access to submissions held in a collaborative work space. If no one has logged into a collaborative work space within 12 months or the AAS discontinues the provision of collaborative work spaces the AAS will, where reasonably possible, give you reasonable advance notice and a chance to remove any submission from a collaborative work space.
